Presentation
The Collection can be presented at two levels of age simulation:
- Standard Distressing
we apply the knocks, scratches and wear that even the most cared for piece of furniture will accumulate over decades of family use.
- Heavy Distressing
older and heavier pieces will show greater signs of being knocked, worn and well used due to the longer passage of time and the much harsher home environments of the 16th and 17th centuries.
We can also quote for furniture that is not given the ageing treatment, leaving it with just the edges smoothed and then polished or left unpolished as natural wood or with an oiled finish.
Colours
We have a number of standard colours, 'B' Colour, Dark 'B' and 'M' Colour. We also have a colour matching service, at an additional cost.
The colours and shading simulate the ageing, warmth and patina of genuine antiques, in a process Tudor Oak has perfected over many years and varies from a golden honey colour, to chestnut, to a dark brown. With all colours the emphasis is placed on keeping the clarity and natural grain effect of the wood.
Maintenance
All our furniture is polished with a high grade polish; with all the tops of pieces finished with a high durability special polish. These polished surfaces are then burnished and waxed to give a fine satin sheen finish.
To maintain surfaces at their best an occasional polish with cream beeswax is recommended.
